Council Highlights - November 18, 2013 Regular Meeting
  • The District of Lillooet will write a letter to the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, the Federal Department of Infrastructure Canada, and the UBCM, with a copy to SILGA and MLA Jackie Tegart, to advise that the District of Lillooet would oppose any change in the current Gas Tax Fund allocation formula that would result in a smaller portion of the funding being available for local and regional governments outside Metro Vancouver. 
  • Council will send a letter to  School District 74 for support in-principle for the replacement of the Cayoose Elementary School and the George M. Murray Elementary School with one new facility, provided that the new facility adequately provides for growth, and will  recommend that the School District contact other potential user groups in the community (such as the RCMP, Attorney General, Social Development, Restorative Justice) for contributions towards ongoing operational costs.   Council will request a meeting with the School Board prior to any final decisions being made with respect to the location of the new facility, as well as the possibility of obtaining some assurance that the vacated school sites will not be left to ruin. 
  • The Director of Public Works presented an update on the water project and the value engineering review.  It was noted that the final value engineering report is expected by  early December.
